Fundemantal Rights Conference on the Rights of the Child 2010. 12. 08. Between 7-8 December 2010 the Fundamental Rights Agency held its annual conference in Brussels. The main theme of the two days long event was the rights of the child.

Yesterday, the European Parliament's Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE) held a public Hearing on 'The EU Strategy on Roma Inclusion'. At the Hearing, Lívia Járóka MEP, Rapporteur of the strategy, set out her recommendations on the issue, calling for an EU-level action plan. Earlier in the day, the EPP Group's Working Group on Roma Inclusion held an open session, where leading researchers presented their findings on the situation of the Roma.
Need for a transparent European system of fundamental rights protection! – Report of Kinga Gál MEP was voted in the competent E 2010. 11. 26. Yesterday, the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs of the European Parliament adopted with a significant majority the report on situation of fundamental rights in the European Union presented by MEP Kinga Gál. The report aims to create synergy, thus making mechanisms and processes concerning fundamental rights in the EU, already existed or introduced by the Lisbon Treaty, more transparent and effective.

Brussels Declaration on behalf of one million European deaf people 2010. 11. 20. Today in the European Parliament the "Declaration on Sign Languages in the European Union" was signed by all present 160 representatives of the deaf and hard of hearing organizations. This remarkable event, called “Implementation of Sign Language Legislation” was co-hosted by MEP Ádám Kósa (EPP Group), President of the Disability Intergroup and the European Union of the Deaf.
Inclusion of Roma: key role for SMEs and improving housing conditions 2010. 11. 18. MEP Lívia Járóka, Chair of the EPP Group's Working Group on Roma Inclusion held talks yesterday with Dimitar Ivanov, executive director of the SME Union Bulgaria about the role of small and medium enterprises in fostering Roma employment. Later the day Járóka met thirty mayors from Romania, where she drew attention to recent amendments to the European Regional Development Fund's regulation which allows for supporting housing subventions in favour of marginalized communities within the EU.
