The Intergroup met on Thursday 17th March to hear a presentation from the Network to Promote Linguistic Diversity (NPLD). The group also welcomed the Alsacian deputy in France’s National Assembly, Armand Jung, who is leading on one of the regional language bills recently tabled in the Assembly.
“The right to the non-manipulated information” – debate on the Hungarian media law in Strasbourg 2011. 02. 16. On Wednesday, 16 February took place the debate on the Hungarian media law in the European Parliament. However, since right that day the Hungarian Government and the Commission reached an agreement, the debate became meaningless. Kinga Gál MEP on the behalf of the European People's Party mentioned the double standard used by the socialist and liberal groups and the importance of real information instead of manipulated information in her contribution to the debate.

"The social inclusion of the Roma is one of the most important strategic challenges that Europe faces and at the same time it provides one of the most promising opportunities for the continent", said Lívia Járóka MEP, Rapporteur of the EU Strategy on Roma Inclusion. Late last night, the Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs Committee (LIBE) of the European Parliament adopted Lívia Járóka's Report with an overwhelming majority. The adoption of a European Roma Strategy is one of the most important priorities of the Hungarian Presidency, which aims to launch the programme during its term.
Kinga GÁL MEP meets the South Tyrolean Youth Ring 2011. 02. 09. In February 2011, MEP Herbert Dorfmann invited the South Tyrolean Youth Ring, the umbrella group of all South Tyrolean youth organisations, at the European Parliament for several meetings with different EU-politicians and members of the European Commission. The Youth Ring had the possibility to meet MEP Kinga Gal, chairwoman of the Intergroup Minorities, and MEP Doris Pack, chairwoman of the Cultural Committee, who shared their opinion about current minority issues in Europe.

Young Global Leaders, forum of the world's most important personalities under the age of forty closed its series of events yesterday in Davos, Switzerland where Hungary was represented by Lívia Járóka, the only Roma member of the European Parliament. Later this week she will continue participating in the negotiations of the World Economic Forum on "The Shared Norms of New Reality". Here, MEP Járóka will present the European Roma Strategy and promote the programme of the Hungarian EU-presidency to the world's economic and political leaders.
