The solution has to be the effective protection of the external borders of the Union and the stopping of illegal immigration

“The European Commission should not attack Hungary in the back, instead it should finally reimburse our costs spent on border policing measures. Instead of ostrich politicking, Brussels should finally support the Member States that protect the external borders for the efforts they make against illegal migration for the sake of the security of the Union as a whole,” stated MEP Kinga Gál, the chairman of the Fidesz European Parliament delegation, during the debate on asylum and migration held in Brussels.

In connection with the extraordinary meeting of the European Council in February, a debate on the development of sustainable solutions in the field of asylum and migration was held today in Brussels, at the plenary session of the European Parliament. During the discussion, Kinga Gál emphasized that the migratory pressure on the EU’s external borders is offensive and is increasing to an alarming extent, violent manifestations against the border guards are regular on the Western Balkan migration route near the Serbian border. The chairman of the Fidesz European Parliament group added: The solution can only be the protection of the external borders of the Union and the stopping of illegal migration. “This is why the proposals that still do not want to stop but manage illegal immigration are harmful. The distribution system based on solidarity is an incentive for hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants and human trafficking criminal organizations,” added the MEP.

“It has now become clear that the European Union’s asylum system has failed, the member states are taking action themselves to curb illegal migration,” said Kinga Gál. “Despite the sacrifices Hungary has made for the protection of our common external borders, only back attacks from Brussels have hit Hungary so far. The European Commission must finally reimburse the costs of Hungary’s border policing measures, thus supporting the member states protecting the external borders for the efforts they make for the security of the Union as a whole.” – emphasized the chairman of the Fidesz European Parliament group.
