MEP says that the case of re-secularization of the Székely Mikó High-School is not only a case that raises concerns regarding the rights of national minorities, but it goes against the legal certainty in general. It questions the trust in the law in Romania. In this respect Romania goes against its own pledges agreed during the negotiation process before joining to the EU in 2007 regarding the Copenhagen criteria and the chapter on justice.

"The European Commission therefore should examine this question from the perspective of legal certainty" – said Kinga Gál MEP. She will address the Commission, "the guardian of treaties" to require the inclusion of this case in the report on Romania this autumn when it comes to the examination of the Romanian justice system as part of the process of the country's accession to the Schengen area. This is the only way the Commission remains consistent with itself.

"Defending the rights of national and linguistic minorities is a very hard task in Europe. This is why it is even more outrageous that a Member State withdraws the already institutionalized rights of minorities with the help of legal tricks."- highlighted Kinga Gál MEP in her speech concerning.
