Reverend János Székely will be awarded the European Citizens Prize 2012. 06. 25. The committee lead by Mr Schultz Martin, the president of the European Parliament published the list of the winners of the European Citizens Prize 2012. Reverend János Székely who has conducted oustanding work among Roma people in Hungary will receive the prize based on the nomination made by Kinga Gál MEP.
Unlocking Europe’s potential through accessibility 2012. 06. 21. More than 70 parliamentarians, policy experts and representatives of disabled people’s organizations will gather today at the European Parliament for a high-level debate on how to unlock Europe’s potential through accessibility, under the lead of Dr Ádám Kósa MEP, the Essl Foundation and the World Future Council, and in collaboration with the European Disability Forum.
Boosting natural gas infrastructure projects in Central Europe 2012. 06. 21. "The launch of the Danube Region Gas Market Model could be a positive step towards securing Central Europe's natural gas supply. By investing European funds in regional energy infrastructure projects, especially in energy interconnectors, we can significantly increase the flexibility and security of the region's gas markets. In order to reach these goals, a joint position and joint energy projects must be established", highlighted András Gyürk MEP and Romana Jordan MEP in their speeches at a conference on the Danube Region Gas Market Model held in the European Parliament today.
Hearing on the case of Mr Előd Tóásó in Brussels 2012. 06. 19. Kinga Gál MEP hosted a hearing on human rights in Bolivia in the European Parliament in Brussels where MEPs and MPs stood up for the right to fair trial and the presumption of innocence, furthermore the resptect for the basic human rights of Mr Előd Tóásó - a Hungarian citizen capped in pre-trial detention in Bolivia for 38 months.
The situation in Tibet discussed in Strasbourg 2012. 06. 13. Due to the critical current developments, the situation in Tibet figured again on the agenda of the European Parliament during its plenary session in Strasbourg. Kinga Gál MEP stressed in her written statement submitted to the debate the need to support Tibetian people in their peaceful struggle for self-determination.
Debate on the new EUSR on Human Rights 2012. 06. 12. During the June plenary session members of the European Parliament debated their recommendations to the mandate of the new European Union Special Representative on Human Rights. Kinga Gál MEP greeted during the debate the creation of this new position and stressed the importance of the clear definition of its mandate.
The case of Előd Tóásó raised during the EP’s plenary session in Strasbourg 2012. 06. 12. At the plenary session of the European Parliament, in the debate about development in Latin-America, HU MEP Kinga GÁL (EPP) said that it is crucial to raise human rights requirements when negotiating cooperation agreements. MEP GÁL reminded the plenary of the case of Előd TÓÁSÓ, a Hungarian man who has been in pretrial detention in Bolivia for more than 3 years now.

During the debate Kinga Gál MEP spoke about the European Youth Charlemagne Prize-winner Students Without Boundaries Program as a good example.
Gál Kinga MEP participated on events in Várpalota and Kecskemét 2012. 06. 09. At the beginning of June Ms Kinga Gál MEP participated as invited speaker at two events organized in Hungary. On 8 June she participated on a round-table discussion in Várpalota, then the other day she was key-note speaker at the meeting of women organizations from the countries of the Carpathian-basin held in Kecskemét.
