Another unbalanced report on the Western Balkans, this time on Bosnia and Herzegovina, is unacceptable

The European Parliament’s Committee on Foreign Affairs voted today on its annual report on Bosnia and Herzegovina in Brussels. Kinga Gál, the president of the Fidesz European Parliament group, emphasized in relation to the report: The text, like the majority of reports on the Western Balkan countries, instead of showing greater care and sensitivity, only exacerbates the conflicts in the region. According to MEP Kinga Gál, it is unacceptable that the report attacks Olivér Várhelyi, the Hungarian commissioner responsible for EU enlargement, and also the Hungarian companies on ideological grounds, and the latter was also initiated by a Hungarian left-wing MEP, Katalin Cseh.

Kinga Gál said: the annual report on Bosnia-Herzegovina, like the majority of reports on the countries of the Western Balkans, is insensitive to the complex problems of the region. Instead of showing greater care and sensitivity, the adoption of such texts only exacerbates conflicts in the region. “Instead of contributing to solutions, the report incites tension and worsens the relationship between the EU and the Western Balkan countries, even though the stability of this region is a key issue for Europe,” she pointed out.

Kinga Gál explained: the left-liberals are also using this report to create a mood against the commissioner Olivér Várhelyi responsible for the enlargement, which, knowing the great performance of the commissioner in the region, is unacceptable. These are exclusively ideologically based attacks on his person.

According to MEP Kinga Gál, it is also incomprehensible and unacceptable that the report openly attacks Hungarian companies, moreover, at the initiative of a Hungarian left-wing MEP, Katalin Cseh. “It is outrageous how the Hungarian left-wing representative is attacking Hungarian companies operating in Bosnia-Herzegovina with her proposals, demanding stronger control over them and unfoundedly conflating them with Chinese companies,” she explained.
