Ethnic incidents in Serbia
Kinga Gál and György Schöpflin MEPs addressed a question to the Commission regarding the ethnic incidents taking place in Vojvodina. In its answer the Commission confirmed that it monitors closely the inter-ethnic situation in Serbia and it will report on the situation in Vojvodina in the framework of its next Progress report on Serbia, due for October 2013.

The status of the Hungarians in Vojvodina has to be continuously monitored
The European Parliament's Committee on Foreign Affairs (AFET) voted on the Serbia-report today. György Schöpflin shadow-rapporteur and Kinga Gál MEP see it as a breakthrough, that their amendments were adopted with a great majority. Because of this success, many actual problems of the Hungarians in Vojvodina became part of the report with great emphasis.

Serbia votes for the Rehabilitation Act
"We all welcome the decision of Belgrade over the vote in favour for the Rehabilitation Act, which had been accepted by the Serbian Parliament as the Alliance of Vojvodina Hungarians had recommended. This is the achievement of István Pásztor and the Hungarian community in Vojvodina ", stated Kinga Gál and György Schöpflin MEPs (Fidesz EPP).

The European Commission needs to be more strict with Serbia
Kinga Gál and György Schöpflin MEPs (Fidesz-EPP), criticised the European Commission’s annual report on Serbia that was published today for not taking into account recent developments. The MEPs are calling on the Commission to take steps that would result in the modification of the Serbian restitution law.
