    Quo Vadis Europa? - Kinga Gál at the cross-border citizen forum at Nitra (Slovakia)

    The Information Offices of the European Parliament in Budapest and Bratislava organized the Cross-border Citizen Forum at Nitra on 8th October 2010. The aim of the bilateral Slovak-Hungarian forum was to bring together MEPs and experts with citizens for a discussion on the Lisbon Treaty. MEP Kinga Gál was a key speaker at the event where participants discussed the changes brought by the Treaty to the European Union and the new EU institution, the European Citizens Initiative.

    European Parliament hosts exhibition on famous Hungarians

    An exhibition of famous Hungarian artists and scientists from the 18th century to the present opened in the European Parliament in Brussels on Tuesday. The people presented in the exhibition - subtitled From the past of Trianon to the future of Schengen - are "forerunners to the current building of a unified Europe," Joseph Daul, head of the Christian-Democratic-Conservative group of the European People's Party, said at the opening ceremony. MEP Kinga Gal of Hungary's governing Fidesz party, who organised the exhibition, said that "there is a new, European dimension to handle the heritage of Trianon".

    Kinga Gál addresses Fundamental Rights Agency conference

    Kinga Gál was invited to the symposium entitled “Strengthening the fundamental rights architecture in the EU” organised by the Fundamental Rights Agency (FRA) in Vienna, on 7th May 2010. The event, focusing on the institutional mechanisms to protect, promote and monitor fundamental rights in the EU, was the first annual symposium of the FRA.

    New chance for Europe – New opportunities for Hungary

    The Fidesz-Hungarian Civic Union in the EPP Group held a conference last Saturday in Budapest, Hungary in anticipation of the entry into force of the Lisbon Treaty on 1 December 2009. MEP Pal Schmitt, Vice-President of the European Parliament, said that with the adoption of the Treaty there can be finally an end to the crisis of recent years in the European Union’s institutions. The development of the Union can be continued more easily.
