2012. 01. 23.
Pursuant to the rules of the European Parliament, all elected offices, i.e. President, Vice-President, Quaestor, and Committee Chair and Vice-Chair are renewed every two and half. On 23rd January 2012 Ms Kinga Gál MEP (Fidesz-EPP) was reelected the first Vice-Chair of the Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs Committee (LIBE).
The first Vice-Chair position is very important, because the one holding this position serves as the direct deputy of the committee's president. Therefore it is an important position with regard to the safeguarding of the EPP and Hungarian national interests. The MEP has held this function since 2007. Beside this position, Kinga Gál ise member of the Human Rights Committee (DROI) and substitute member of the Foreign Affairs Committee (AFET).
