The Intergroup welcomed the Breton NGO Kevre Breizh and EBLUL France for its July meeting. Discussion focused on the appalling level of discrimination faced by regional language speakers in a state that is, the last in western Europe not to give any recognition or support to its regional languages.

Organized by MEP Kinga Gál (EPP-Fidesz) and the Hungarian Presidency, a conference on national and linguistic minorities took place in the European Parliament. The Hungarian Presidency representing the Council, the European Commission, the Fundamental Rights Agency, another European international institution, the Council of Europe and several NGOs debated the possibilities of the enhancement of minority rights.
