Kinga Gál MEP called personally Ms Edit Tóásó, sister of Mr Előd Tóásó in order to inform her about the cooperation with Irish MEP, Gay Mitchell and the further steps that are planned to be taken. The MEP reassured Ms Tóásó that she will use every instrument at her disposal to keep the case on the agenda and protect the human rights of Mr Előd Tóásó. She promised furthermore to make concrete steps in order to arrange a meeting for Ms Tóásó with HR/VP Ashton.

Today the European Parliament voted in favour with a large majority of its annual report on the situation of human rights in the world. As a result of the amendments tabled by Kinga Gál MEP the report contains a separate part dealing with the rights of national minorities, furthermore other accepted amendments of hers strengthen the rights of the child in the text.
