    Concerns Regarding the Upcoming Elections in Ukraine

    Kinga Gál MEP expressed her concerns regarding the decision of the Central Election Committee of Ukraine that decided on the borders of electoral districs wihout taking into consideration the ethnic composition of the regoins. This decesion makes it practically impossible for the Hungarian minority living in Ukraine to be represented on national level. Ms Kinga Gál addressed a question to the European Commission on this issue.

    Further Developments in the Case of Mr Előd Tóásó

    Kinga Gál MEP called personally Ms Edit Tóásó, sister of Mr Előd Tóásó in order to inform her about the cooperation with Irish MEP, Gay Mitchell and the further steps that are planned to be taken. The MEP reassured Ms Tóásó that she will use every instrument at her disposal to keep the case on the agenda and protect the human rights of Mr Előd Tóásó. She promised furthermore to make concrete steps in order to arrange a meeting for Ms Tóásó with HR/VP Ashton.

    During its plenary session the European Parliament debated the accession of the EU to the European Convention on Human Rights. In her contribution to the debate Kinga Gál MEP stressed that the accession can be successful only in case it streghtens the already existing European institutions and the judicial systems of the Member States.
